Everyone mourns in a different way. Some people don't mourn the loss of their pet at all (simply not understandable for me) and others, like me, mourn their beloved pet's passing for a long, long time. When Shadow passed so suddenly now more than 3 years ago, I initially did not want to keep her ashes. But the thought of her being burned on a pile of other animal carcasses was unbearable so I changed my mind and asked the vet at the animal hospital where she passed away due to a very aggressive and sudden brain tumour that I wanted a private cremation. Honestly, I did not even know what that meant. But, a couple of weeks later I went to pick up my Shadow - now in a pearl coloured urn - along with her collar.
I had planned to take her to one of her favourite places and disperse her ashes. But then, I just could not do it either. I just got used to the urn in my bedroom. But end of last year I finally gave her a different resting place. And now I feel more at peace with her new "home".
With help from Joanna and Kevin Woronchak from "Until we meet Again" her ashes were transferred into a beautiful personalized container that I created using some of the photos I had taken of Shadow. This was before I had started my pet photography business, so my photos were not the best. But the "urn-box" is very special and suitable home for her remains. Now, she moved into the living room and has a prime location, overseeing everything in my household.
If you feel that this is an option for you, you can order an urn-box either through me or through "Until we meet Again". We created special packages including a photo shoot or I can work with your images. Just let me know and we can talk about the options.
